What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the library. I like the library not only because I always get my homework done, but because I get to see a lot of students in there also. It is a great place to grab a coffee, chat with a few friends, and then do a ton of homework. I always leave the library feeling super accomplished. I even left once with a new friend!
What is your favorite place in Havre?
This is definitely a hard one, especially because I grew up in Havre, so if I had to choose one I would have to pick Angie’s Wildflowers. It is a recent addition to downtown Havre but I love it. She makes the coolest and most fun flower arrangements ever, plus her store is full of fun jewelry, good photography, yummy candy, and good people! It is just a good place to get a killer flower arrangement or just for a good chat with some awesome people.
If you were able to relive your freshman year, what advice would you give yourself?
I would definitely tell myself to not be so nervous. I was crazy nervous on the first day of school, almost to the point of tears. I just needed to remember that there are tons of other students who are in my exact shoes on that day, and that everyone is really friendly. There was nothing I needed to worry about and being nervous only made things seem scary. They should be fun, not scary.
What extracurricular activity do you enjoy most?
I enjoy acting in the Montana Actor’s Theatre (MAT) most. They put on five productions a year, one being a musical, and always put out a good quality show. I think I enjoy it so much because of the other actors and directors. They are so friendly and are such good people that I feel like I almost have another family. I know they are the type of people if I needed help, they would be there. I also love being on stage and acting, it is really fun getting the chance to portray other people for a short period of time.
If you could live at any other time in history when would it be and why?
I would love to live in the 1980s. I just missed that decade by a few years but I totally feel like a 80s child anyways. I love bright colors and I occasionally rock my neon leg warmers like it is nobody’s business. I also love the music, so wonderful for jammin’ out in my car when I am all alone, just so I don’t embarrass myself. I feel like I would have dominated the 80s.
Why did you decide Northern?
I actually chose Northern after attending Central Washington University for a year and half. CWU was a huge school with over 10,000 students. Right out of high school I thought I wanted to be surrounded by students I didn’t know, but after a year and half I realized I really didn’t like the big classes or the fact I never saw anyone I knew on campus. After a lot of consideration I transferred back to Northern. I decided to come back here instead of one of the other MSU schools because it was close to home, affordable and I felt like it was the right thing to do. Now that I have been here for a year I know I made the right choice. I love the new friends I have made, the class sizes are perfect (I love that I know my professors!) and I love being to walk on campus and see people I know. It is just a good college, especially if you are social!
