YELLOW BAY 07 SCHOOL A GREAT SUCCESS!!
9/4/2007
The 17th Annual Yellow Bay seminar featured Paul Klopping from Corvallis, Oregon for the 5th consecutive year. The weather cooperated beautifully for the 30 dedicated wastewater professionals that gathered at this scenic University of Montana biological research station situated on the shore of Flathead Lake. The theme for this year's seminar was, "Improving WWTP Performance ... A Process Optimization Workshop and Biological Nutrient Removal Part 2". This 2 1/2 day workshop allowed operators the opportunity to apply advanced wastewater treatment principles to improving the performance of their plants back home. Along with review of the essential principles of biological treatment of domestic wastes, innovative operator practices were discussed and biological nutrient treatment processes were expanded over previous years. The class also provided laboratory exercises involving microscopic sludge examination and assessment and process control tests. Paul Klopping always manages to bring classroom discussion to a level that operators can relate to and bring to bear at their facilities. The relaxed setting and class format allows other workshop participants to provide new perspectives, too. For 17 years, the Yellow Bay workshops have brought dignified and exceptional speakers to Montana for the benefit of our advanced WWTPs and lagoon systems. This year was one of the best, yet.

NEW METC CELL PHONE NUMBER (406) 945-4698
8/22/2006
Montana Environmental Training Center (METC/MSU-Northern) has a NEW CELL PHONE NUMBER 406-945-4698 beginning today 8/22/06. Due to increased regulation by the state and IRS, the University has changed its cell phone policy for phones under state contract to be put under the user’s personal name. However VERIZON is unwilling to transfer the old state contract number 406-390-3865 from MSU-Northern to Gary Hall, METC Director personally without a $400.00 deposit being required. Therefore the new number is Gary Hall, METC Director’s current personal phone number from ALTEL (no deposit required), and will now be used as METC’s NEW cell phone number. It will be advertised as the NEW Cell Phone number in the “News Section” of METC’s website, www.msun.edu/grants/metc and in the up coming METC 4th Quarter Training Announcement & NewsNotes to be printed and sent out by Sept 15th. Unfortunately there will be a three week gap before the number can be published and the Old METC cell phone number being shut off this week. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause certified water and wastewater operators attempting to pre-register for upcoming Workshops or instructors and others trying to call to find out information on workshops during that period. Starting tomorrow please DO NOT use the old METC cell phone number 406-390-3865.
