YouthBuild North Central Montana

The North Central Montana YouthBuild Program is looking for young men and women ages 16 to 24 who are ready to change their lives and learn the construction trades industry.

This is an intensive, twenty-week program that will give you a huge head-start on your future.

Who is eligible?

YouthBuild is open to Montana residents between the ages of 16 and 24. Other eligibility requirements apply; contact YouthBuild for more details.

What’s It Cost?

Nothing! If your application to be a part of YouthBuild is accepted, there is absolutely no cost to you. YouthBuild will also provide you with some work clothes and have transportation available.

If you are ready to make a change and are ready to begin to build your life, then YouthBuild may be right for you. But only 40 young people are accepted to the North Central Montana YouthBuild program each year, so get your application in today!

Registration

Registration for YouthBuild has several steps. First, you must complete and return our participant application.

After we receive your application, we will contact you to set up an interview and determine your eligibility.

Learn

YouthBuild trainees will be introduced to many of the skills needed for the building industry including:

  • Rough Carpentry and Construction
  • Siding and Roofing
  • Plumbing Installation
  • Insulation and Weather Proofing
  • Green Building Techniques
  • Jobsite Safety

The trainees will spend time in the classroom as well as in the lab or on the jobsite. Additionally, trainees will have the opportunity to earn their GED, if needed, while improving their employability and living skills.

Participants may be able to receive college credit and tuition scholarship after successfully completing the YouthBuild program.

Build

YouthBuild team members will work and train with experienced construction personnel to build modern, energy efficient houses for low-income families in the community. Trainees will have the satisfaction of knowing they are actively improving the lives of people in their own community.

Grow

Upon successful completion of the program, you will have earned:

  • Your GED, if needed
  • College credit upon completion of a semester at MSU-Northern
  • An Industry recognized Certificate in Building Trades Technology from HBI or other qualified program.

Successful program participants will have the entry level skills to be able to enter the construction industry.

Additionally, you will receive a weekly cash stipend, contribute to a savings plan and be able to earn incentives like tools, electronics and cash!
