MacKenzie Hall A new women's dormitory constructed to the east and south of the men's dorm was ready for occupancy in the fall of 1971. The $1,200,000 building replaced Donaldson Hall and provided housing space comparable to that of Morgan Hall. The new building was named MacKenzie Hall in honor of Dr. D. S. MacKenzie Sr., who was an early legislator, executive board member and civic leader who assisted in the founding of the college. Designed by Great Falls architects Kuhr and Davidson, this modernistic building is in three block like sections joined at the base. It has nine floor levels with two lounges, a kitchenette and snack area, and small study rooms on several residence floors. All furnishings, except those in the lounges, are built in. As with other dormitories, the debt is self liquidating through rental fees. In later years portions of the building were used as co-ed housing and since Morgan Hall was closed an entire section of MacKenzie Hall provides housing for single male students living on campus. |
