The Sprint Degree in Diesel Technology is one of the ways MSU-Northern is addressing the increasing demand for Diesel Technicians across the state. It is offered in partnership with the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education and the Montana State Legislature to create a pathway for increasing the number of skilled laborers across Montana.

the ribbon-cutting and grand opening of a brand new, state of the art Diesel Te4chnology Center. This facility houses a line of big bore engine technology utilized in the railroad and shipping industries. The building also includes basic and advanced engine labs that are networked directly to OEMs, providing students with a technically sound education on a variety of engines.
Students who want to go above and beyond...
have the option of tailoring their degree to meet specific goals. The Field Maintenance option includes welding and fabrication courses that enable a graduate to work in construction or off-site locations, while the Equipment Management option focuses on upper-level business and accounting skills. All of Northern's diesel degrees include a cooperative education component, which enables the student to "test drive" company for a semester, get course credits, and get paid all at the same time.
